Pearl Jam is a band form Seattle that was formed back in 1990’s. They were originally known as Mookie Blaylock. The idea for this name came from retired basketball player’s name that Pearl Jam’s members thought would be fun to use as their band name. Soon after they changed band’s name to Pearl Jam- Pearl being grandmother’s name of one of the members and jam representing, well, jam. They became quite popular in the early nineties with their first album “Ten” that was described as igniting match for the “grunge explosion.” Although during the years they had great success with their following albums amongst which are Vitalogy, Backspacer, and VS., Ten remains their signature and only real contribution to grunge genre. Although the band’s success went in parallel with Nirvana’s success, Nirvana’s front man Curt Cobain and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder never met in person, as they only talked to each other on the phone.
